Pour la Résistance

The phone rang at 4am as expected.  She listened then did as she was told and boarded the yellow line west concealing fear and sealing fate against her body. Flanked by commuters, she prayed, then thumbed the trigger.

The challenge: You’re all starting with the same 5 words [The phone rang at 4am.] and your task is to turn it in to your own story in only 33 words. The 5 we have given you are NOT to be counted in the 33 words. Complete the following story in exactly 33 words. Link-up at Trifextra: Week Six.

      1. Reading this again, I see how well and how seamlessly this would work for the rebellion/revolution prompt at Trifextra this weekend too…You really are a great writer. You really have a way with words. You should write more.

  1. Thanks so much for linking up to Trifextra. Remember, this weekend’s entries are being judged by the Trifecta community, so make sure you visit the site at the close of the challenge to vote. Our linking service will not allow you to vote for a link from the same computer where it was submitted, so plan ahead! Voting closes 12 hours after the close of the challenge. Winners will be announced with the Monday post. Hope to see you back then.

  2. That Rhianna song where she’s explaining to her mom that she shot a man down comes to mind when I read this…
She had to do it, I love that feeling that’s it’s gonna happen, even in that crowded station…
    Came from the Trifextra linkup.

    1. I’m not familiar with that Rhianna song, but I often think of music or photographs when musing about these writing challenges. Eventually I’ll get better at these challenges. Thanks for reading and leaving and interesting comment.

    1. Dana~I wanted to avoid my first and obvious response and this prompt. I like what I came with is unexpected. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Come back and read again soon.
